Caught Fish City Fish
2018

research and exhibition project
solo-exhibition at Experimental Intermedia Ghent

clay sculptures, silkscreen edition, live action

curated by Lieve D'hondt.

Since many years I am fascinated by the fishermen, catching fish and crabs in urban waters.

I did some basic etnographic research, observing these people, the spots they like, the tools they have. Now and than, a dialogue started.

I found out scientists had been placing fish pots all over the place, to know exactly what kind of fishes are living there.

Next to the exhibition room, there seemed to be a measuring point. I made all the fish species, precisely in real size in clay. Gradually I showed them in the vitrine.

During the finissage, the spectators were invited to release the fish in the canal.

I made a fish poster, offset pressed and published a silkscreened text by Emi Kodama
.
